The Story of the People’s Calendar:

In 2013 Dan was doing his annual calendar shopping. Not finding any of the calendars appealing, he went ahead and bought 12 months of pugs. After staring at the monstrosity on his wall for a year, he set out to make a calendar that local people would like. The principles were simple: make it local by highlighting local events, utilize local photos and photographers, print it on high quality paper and have it spiral bound– locally.  The first People’s Calendar debuted in 2015 with a run of 250.

Noah joined Dan in 2015 bringing a team of design students along with him that added the form to the functionality.

Nine years in, we still have no idea idea what the hell we’re doing… but we’re always thinking how to improve and make this calendar more appealing to the local community. We constantly solicit feedback, update events, look for new design ideas, and continue to expand our network of photographers and contributors. We have one goal– to make the best calendar possible and we’re proud to make this calendar 100% in San Francisco and to be part of SF Made and the local maker community!
